About Us Mark & Shannon Hovland

A Brief History

Mark and Shannon met in 1995 while performing in a cheesy little Easter play production. Shannon looked and sang beautiful, while Mark, on the other hand, sang a heavy metal version of an Easter song while dressed as a Roman soldier...(Yikes)... No wonder it wasn´t love at first sight... Throughout 1995 and 1996, they sang side by side, week in and week out on the worship team at their church, (during that time, Shannon had not yet received the revelation that Mark was the man of her dreams... due of course to her spunky little attitude). But then... She "Saw the Light"! (insert a choir of angels here singing... "Hallelujah")... They finally went on their first date in October of 1996... They immediately became inseparable and were engaged less than thirty days later... Three months after that, on February 15, 1997, they were married. They have been enjoying wonderful marital bliss for over a decade now.

Currently, they have five children; Brook, Brittain, Brianna, Jonathan and Valory... As for the future, ongoing discussion of adding five more to the clan is a never ending source of comedic relief around the Hovland household...

Between raising the family, pastoring the church, and recording and performing music, Mark & Shannon have recently embarked on a new adventure in co-authoring their first book together, entitled... "Marriage Is "Not" Hard Work"... Basically, it is a look at the blessedness of the marriage covenant from God’s eternal perspective, as opposed to society’s limited and pessimistic viewpoint... the book is due out sometime in 2008...
